Integrated listening system

Clara is a certified provider for the Safe and Sound Protocol which was developed by neuroscientist Stephen Porges who developed the ground breaking Polyvagal Theory in the mid 90’s. Our emotional and physiological states are critical to how we approach relationships and tasks at hand. When we are more self-regulated, not only can we be more socially engaged, we are more open to therapy. Better state regulation improves therapeutic outcomes. ILS is based on the fact that we can alter how our brain functions– we can essentially re-wire it through specific and repeated stimulation, a concept known as neuroplasticity. As in building strength and endurance with physical exercise, we are able to build neurological pathways and synaptic activity at any age.

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a five-day auditory listening intervention designed to reduce stress and auditory sensitivity while enhancing social engagement and resilience. Based on Dr. Porges’ Polyvagal Theory, by calming the physiological and emotional state, the door is opened for improved communication and more successful therapy for both children and adults.

The SSP is a research-based therapy showing significant results in just five days in the following areas:

Social and emotional difficulties

  •
Auditory sensitivities

  •
Anxiety and trauma related challenges

  •
Inattention

  •
Stressors that impact social engagement
